They bring excellent academic credentials, thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, and are committed to advancing human development globally.
HOW YOU CAN GROW WITH US:
At SEEK, one of our core values is ‘development’, and this includes continuous professional development. We try to ensure that each team member’s work is built around personal and skills-based aspirations, whether project management, quantitative analysis, networking, or within a particular service or focus area.
With us, you will assume responsibility from your first day on the job and gain new insights into topics – including and beyond your own specializations. To further your individual development, we track personal and performance goals through ongoing dialogue and formal meetings. While your projects at SEEK provide opportunities to build specific new skills, we also conduct regular internal trainings and sponsor external trainings as well.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
We are looking for a (Senior) Consultant to join the Development Finance practice at SEEK Development. In this position you will become part of our amazing team of SEEK consultants and help us shape our strategic advocacy and development finance work across all our sectoral focus areas, especially global health, education, and climate adaptation. Through rigorous analysis and strategic thought-leadership you will support our clients in identifying innovative and sustainable ways of financing some of the most pressing topics of our time and help them shape political agendas for their issues. This role allows you to further develop your problem solving, communication skills, and lead small workstreams and/or teams. Having finished an advanced degree in (development) economics, international development, or a related field and gathered several years of experience in strategy consulting and/or the international development sector, you are now looking for a position to grow your leadership skills and deepen your knowledge in global development in a fast-paced consulting environment.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Manage (small) project workstreams with increasingly limited guidance and engage your project manager specifically, where support is needed.
- Largely independently perform and guide others in doing both qualitative and quantitative analytics – disaggregating the central question and building an approach, gathering data, aggregating and synthesizing it into recommendations for your client.
- Develop well-structured and engaging deliverables in Microsoft PowerPoint or Word format, build “storylines” that lead the reader from the central problem to the proposed solution, presenting arguments and evidence in a clear and appealing way.
- Coach junior team members in developing core consulting skills.
- Develop and own lasting relationships with clients as “go-to-person”, and lead client meetings and workshops.
- Actively contribute to winning project proposals, from selecting proposals of interest for you/SEEK to driving the proposal development process.
- Demonstrate ownership in your work, including attention to detail and the quality of the deliverable and its contribution to the larger project.
- Contribute to growing SEEK’s knowledge and developing thought leadership in a specific area of interest and expertise.
- Actively support and drive SEEK’s values:
- Exhibit a strong commitment to own the team’s and the client’s development;
- Build community and collaboration internally and externally;
- Be impact-driven, eager to learn and experiment, and actively ask for help;
- Strive for excellence, set high professional standards, and take individual responsibility.
ABOUT YOU
You are passionate about social impact and want to put your consulting skills to work in the field of global development. Strategic, collaborative and curious, you effectively utilize the power of cutting-edge analyses and enjoy working in teams that drive the delivery of innovative solutions and look at challenges from a holistic perspective. You are a committed self-starter, with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong qualifications. You are looking for the next step in your professional development and the right environment to develop your leadership skills and progress quickly.
WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT FOR THIS EXCITING ROLE:
- Advanced degree in a relevant field such as (development) economics, international politics or development, or a related discipline.
- Several years of substantial experience at a top tier consultancy and/or relevant experience at an international development organization.
- Experience working in or working closely with multilateral development banks or international organizations focused on economic development on topics related to investing, public debt, debt sustainability or MDB reform preferred.
- Experience working on structuring financial transactions and a good understanding of the impact investing landscape or emerging markets investing will be considered a plus.
- Demonstrated thought leadership in development finance architecture and landscape, current debates, and key stakeholders as well as a professional network to continue building at SEEK.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret quantitative data effectively. Experience in monitoring and evaluation is a plus but not necessary for the role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of key global development topics, issues, and current affairs in international development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with statistical software is desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive mindset, with the ability to take initiative and drive results.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
