Dr. Marco Schäferhoff, Partner at SEEK Development, combines long experience in management and consulting with in-depth global development expertise. Marco’s key sectoral focus areas are global health and education. He leads research-driven projects on global development policy and financing, economic work including cost-benefit analyses and investment cases, and program and organizational evaluations.
Marco has advised a broad array of clients from the global development space, including global partnerships, multilateral organizations, various bilateral donors, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and several NGOs. He also supported the International Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunity, and the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health to translate its findings into actionable policy recommendations for donor and country governments. He is a member of the Working Group on International Collective Action for Health, chaired by Lawrence Summers and Dean Jamison.
Before joining SEEK Development, Marco worked as research fellow in the Collaborative Research Center “Governance in areas of limited statehood” at the Freie Universität (FU) Berlin. His research focus was on global health and development policies as well as on transnational actors of global politics. He also taught seminars on global health governance, theories of international relations, and research methods in social sciences at the Otto-Suhr-Institute of Political Science at the FU Berlin. Marco has published a range of scientific contributions on international financing for health and development and transnational cooperation. He holds an advanced degree in Politics and a PhD in Political Science.
